Streetwise Opera production and video

2024 saw us embark on a new project with Streetwise Opera delivering three shows in three cities, London, Manchester and Nottingham. We worked with the Designer Debbie Duru, Artistic Director Martin Constantine and their local producers to stage each production to the highest quality. We also produced films of the shows. This was our first project with Streetwise Opera since Covid.

Streetwise Opera is an theatre company that enables people who’ve experienced homelessness to find inspiration and empowerment while they rebuild their lives and identities. They are a very good example of how the creative arts are a positive way for people to build confidence and skills and become part of a supportive and creative community.

In addition we were asked to design and produce curved steps for the stage. Working with our set builders the steps where created to match the live show theming.

let’s start the conversation...

THE OUTCOME

We were so impressed with the work that Streetwise do in the three communities that we decided to donate £1,000 towards the work that they do. Peter said ‘We had the opportunity to observe some of the workshops that Streetwise do with the communities that they work with and were so impressed that we decided to donate towards the continued work of the company. In 2001 Peter spent six-months volunteering in a drop-in centre in Stoke on Trent and learned a lot about homeless issues and the problems that can lead to people becoming homeless. It’s a subject close to his heart.

PROJECT TIMINGS

The project from conception to delivery was 6 months.

Yourself, Russell and the whole team were so brilliant to work with and consistently supportive and generous with ideas. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to the team.”
