When the Philip Astley Projects CIC were looking for an AV company to celebrate the legacy of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s famous son in a brand-new visitor centre, they turned to PH Productions to evoke the sights and sounds of the circus. The challenge was to emulate the unique feel Astley’s modern circus audiences have experienced for centuries, with a bang up to date and interactive audio-visual system installation.
The Philip Astley Centre tells the story of The Original Showman, from his Riding School, Amphitheatre and Classis Circus into contemporary performances, spilling out into shows, fairground, art and literature.
Breathing new life into the town’s cultural scene, a derelict property has been transformed into an awe-inspiring circus themed exhibition space with workshops, classes, talks, lectures, film showings and close performance.
PH worked with the Philip Astley Centre team through the design process, to bring technical installation of sound, lighting and video, to reflect the “Father of the Modern Circus’s” innovative approach. Utilising the latest technology from Yamaha, Avolite, Chauvet, EV and Epson, PH have delivered a creative, interactive sound and visual experience to capture visitors’ imaginations. From the initial spark of ideas, design, testing, installing, programming and maintaining the full audio-visual installation, PH we excited to roll up, roll up their sleeves and engross themselves in bringing the magic of the modern circus, to a whole new modern audience.
