Can we do it on a cold, rainy night in Stoke?

PH Production Services have a long history of supporting Appetite Stoke with outdoor arts event planning and delivery. As they light up the faces of their audiences, we’re often plugging them in behind the scenes! Involved from the inception of ideas, we handle the logistical aspects of these live events in site-specific places, including health and safety planning and execution, site build up and break down, audio visual production, liaison with artists and site management. We work alongside a raft of brilliant partners, local authorities, BIDs, community and arts groups to ensure that each event embraces its objective and engages audiences in a unique and captivating way.

In these dark days of winter, it’s been our pleasure to once again support Appetite in the delivery of their Light Up Winter series. At the series opener on 21-22 January, we witnessed the joy and wonder of Middleport Park’s audience as they got playful with immersive light and sound installations, that emulated participants heartbeats and saw illuminated fish flying above the park.

This week saw the majestic Hanley Town Hall in Albion Square light up in a cacophony of colour, as the stories of the Potteries over the last Century played out on the historic frontage. ‘Message in a Bottle Kiln’ was a poignant projection perfectly imaged and inspired by young people from local colleges. With a fun positive spin fruit machine and glowing disco dancers all adding to the positive vibes.

Next up is Newcastle under Light – our hometown’s Guildhall will be the backdrop to an illuminating presentation of local people and their tales presented on Wednesday 4 March. Giant inflatables will be available for hugs, and multi-sensory moments of mindfulness can be found around the town.

Illuminating, inspiring, imaginative community events really do light up our winter… and the answer to that now famous question, “Can they do it on a cold, rainy night in Stoke?” is resoundingly… “Yes we can!”.
