Connects Meeting about the University Of Staffordshire Business Awards

As a production company we have supported many awards celebration events with audio visual, live streaming and production management services, so we appreciate just what a positive impact they can have. People coming together and celebrating their achievements and getting recognised and rewarded for their accomplishments on awards night is a great vibe to be part of.

It was our pleasure to welcome Jenny Amphlett of the University of Staffordshire to a recent Connects Network meeting to talk to the many and varied assembled businesses at the Smithfield Works Stoke, about the University of Staffordshire Business Awards. We learned that there are many merits of getting involved that extend way beyond the glitz and glamour of the fancy dinner and award presentations.

A simple visit to the awards website oozes positive news about Staffordshire Businesses and Staffordshire University Alumni who’re achieving great things. That’s just one of the great reasons for entering, the pr spotlight that the University shines on nominees. Sharing confident and optimistic stories about Staffordshire businesses is constant theme of our Connect meetings, so this aspect of entering the awards certainly appeals.

There’s also no need to concern yourself with intricate awards submissions, the process as explained to us by Jenny, seems straight forward too. Choose an appropriate category, check the criteria and submit a story of up to 1000 words, about why you’d make a worthy winner. Of course, we can all be a bit shy about our achievements, but this is where you have to dig deep and unearth just what’s amazing about our businesses. This doesn’t have to be about who’s the biggest, or making the most money, it’s about your passion, impact, determination and sustainable growth. Evidencing these is all part of the process of writing your entry and documenting your company’s journey to date. Just what makes your business stand out, and why?

Even just taking time out of the business to think about this and acknowledge how far you’ve come is a worthwhile exercise. Entries are now open, and you have until the 1 June to make a submission, so there’s no excuses on the deadline front, either!

Once judging takes place, finalists are notified and invited to a pre-event reception in August. Each finalist has a promo video shot, which is another lasting and valuable market asset. Of course, the awards themselves do culminate in a glitzy event held at the Catalyst building of the University of Staffordshire, and who doesn’t like a good night out?

Jenny certainly held our attention throughout the presentation, and it was satisfying to hear so much buzz about getting involved.
